I paid $38 a night for this hotel, conveniently located in Schaumburg- right near the mall and Ikea- not too far from the Rosemont CTA Park and Ride. Check-in was a nightmare as they "lost" one of our rooms and then claimed to be overbooked. A quick call to Hotwire got us a room- well, they called it a room. The manager was a complete A@@HOLE and has been reported. They definitely do not like "third party reservations" as they repeated over and over. I told them I tried to book with my Wyndham by Request card and it kept coming up as sold out at that rate (which would have only been $14 more and would have included free internet access, free breakfast buffet and free drinks and snacks in the room upon check-in). This was the first time I had stayed at a Wyndham Garden hotel and they are not the same as your normal Wyndham hotels, by far! So, the other room- the matress was practically on the ground because there was no frame holding up the box springs. Luckily for me, our traveling partners randomly picked the key to the room and insisted that they stay in that room even though it was a mess. Oh yah, they had to call and have their sheets changed because there was a ton of hair on the pillow cases and sheets! They asked to move and was told that they couldn't- the parking lot was not anywhere near being half full, so we doubt that they were actually sold out. There were only two other people down at the breakfast buffett each morning. They did give my friends two free breakfasts to make up for the nasty bed. Our room wasn't much better.. tub didn't drain very well so I had to shower standing in a pool of soapy water. The remote on the TV didn't work, even when I put in new batteries that I had with me. And, the picture was horrible on the set. The pool was not much bigger than the bath tub and was freezing cold, even though it was filled with a bunch of screaming kids.

Having said all of that- we still had a great weekend and appreciated the location of the hotel. Thanks to the margaritas at a nearby Mexican restaurant and the Rum and Cokes at Dave & Busters in nearby Addison (oh yah and at Second City- a short train ride and short bus ride away), I was able to sleep like a baby. The food at the breakfast buffett was good, but two of the three people running it were completely rude!! One of my travel companions jokingly made a comment about it to the nice lady who was working down there and she said she knew exactly what she meant! I will not stay there again- unless there is nothing else available in the neighboring villages that are under $60.
