Garuda613 Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 I put off booking due to uncertainty over trip due to health. Now we know we're going 17th-21st August 2012. It looks like people had wins at Delta Chelsea for 82, and Hyatt for 85. We really need to stay downtown as we're writing an exam, and need to coup up and study, only going out for food. Which downtown/delta chelsea is IDEAL for. I bid up to 98.00 for both North and South, *even though I only want north. No luck. Don't know what to do.Will lower priced rooms become available closer to the dates? or am I SOL and should have booked much more in advance?
Romelle Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 I can't say whether things would have been better earlier ....I looked at HOTWIRE, and the downtown rates for Friday and Saturday night are much higher than the Sunday and Monday night rates. In fact, for the weekend, even the 2*s are over $100. After the weekend, the rates settle a bit and there is a 3* for $87. The 4*s start at $128. Other areas are less expensive, but if you have to have downtown it is going to be a challenge. I'd suggest booking a cancelable back-up and then continuing to bid up to your max every 24 hours. There are lots of free re-bid zones in Toronto, so that will help. If you aren't familiar with the concept, there is an explanation in the FAQs.Romelle
