PrettyFly Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Hi guys,I m new on this forum so first of all:Hello and thank you in advance for all your help, what you guys do here is awesome! That said I have read a lot on this forum so far and I m trying (for the first time) to bid on a hotel on Priceline inSan Franciscofrom 9/14 - 9/18for 2 Persons, 1 roomI want at least a 3.5* Hotel somewhere Downtown. The area doesn t really matter as long as I can get everywhere by the metro from there (I won t have a car).I think a good choice of the area would be:Fisherman's WharfFinancial District - EmbarcaderoUnion Square EastUnion Square West - Nob Hill But as I said these are not fixed and I would be glad I someone has advice for me on where to stay best (I have never been to San Francisco so far)I understand that there is a salesforce convention beginning on 9/18 so I guess I should split my trip to9/14 - 9/17 and 9/18I would also be willing to purchase the last day directly from the hotel so that I don t have to change hotels on the last day.I also listed the bidding areas as follows:SFO international Airport - Burlingame - 4 StarSOMA - Moscone Center - 4 StarSan Mateo - 4 StarUnion Square East - 4 StarUnion Square West - Nob Hill - 4 StarFinancial District - Embarcadero - 4 StarFisherman's Wharf - 3,5 StarCivic Center South - Hayes Valley - 3 StarJapan Town - Civic Center North - 3 StarMarina - Lombard Street - 3 StarSFO North - San Bruno - 3 StarSouth San Francisco - 3 StarRichmond - 2 StarI tried bidding up to 125usd so far but with no luck. Can anyone help me and give me some advice. Is the price I set realistic or what should I bid? I don t really have a limit I just want the best price available.Thank you very much for your advice in advance!!!
AaronJB Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding.Did you bid up to $125 for 9/14-18 or 9/14-17? Did you bid at the 3.5* level only? 9/18 appears moderately busier, but these dates unfortunately appear rather busy across the board.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
PrettyFly Posted August 13, 2012 Author Report Posted August 13, 2012 I bid 125 for 9/14-17 on a 3.5* hotel but I had no luck so far.I have now reserved a good rated 3 star hotel for 187usd (including tax) but I can cancel that one at any time if I get a better one through priceline. It s just my backup plan...So any advice on how much I should bid to get a 3.5 or 4 star hotel?
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 To give us an idea/comparison, which hotel do you have as a backup?I would continue to work higher by $5's - I think you're likely looking at it taking in the $140-160 range, but you have the time to try between $125-140 first.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
PrettyFly Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 My backup is the Andrews Hotels but I really don t care about that. I m just looking for the best deal and I would prefer a 4 star above a 3 star. Most important for me is a good location (metro) and good ratings.
thereuare Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 So for a 4* hotel in one of the following zones:Fisherman's WharfFinancial District - EmbarcaderoUnion Square EastUnion Square West - Nob Hill ... how high are you willing to bid before lowing your star rating and trying for a 3.5* property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PrettyFly Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 I would say 140-150 if that s realistic.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 At current rates $150 for a 4* hotel is probably not realistic as it think it may take well over $200/nite, but if you want to give it a try:At the 4* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* FW, FD, and USE...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USW...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* FW, FD, USE and USW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
