Kuttah Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm also trying to book a 4* NYC (Downtown-Financial District), hopefully at the Millenium Hilton for $160. I keep getting denied, even when I raise the price to $195! Not sure what I'm doing wrong......... I want to stay from October 16th to 18th. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 You're not doing anything wrong. Rates vary from day-to-day and much of the Fall/early Winter gets expensive (and occasionally a lot more expensive.) Unfortunately, rates for these dates are definitely high. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Kuttah Posted August 12, 2012 Author Report Posted August 12, 2012 i'm trying to stay around $400 total for the 2 days with all taxes in................... i was getting so frustrated that I was going over budget! trying to stay in a 4 star hotel, in either MTW, Wall Street, or Soho areas. Please advise, thanks.

Please advise, thanks.Have you bid all three of the above areas up to your max? Are there any other PRICELINE zones that could work for you?Other than the airport zones, HOTWIRE's low 4* (SoHo Financial District) is $226. PRICELINE can be a little less expensive than HOTWIRE, but not necessarily so.You've got about 2 months yet. It might be a good idea to book a cancelable back-up, and then keep bidding until the very last. Sometimes hotels don't give rooms to PRICELINE until closer to the date. Romelle
AaronJB Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 $400 "all-in" taxes/fees included is about a $165 bid per night. I think for a 4* in these zones you could try lower first and work higher, but you're likely looking at it taking probably in the mid-$200's ($235-275) I'm seeing a 4* on HOTWIRE in the Downtown/Soho zone, but I'm guessing it's either the World Center or Club Quarters World Trade, which were both previously reported as 3.5*'s on PRICELINE.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
