I think this may be the best 5* win in Paris ever.

How it went down:

* Received today a Hotwire email tip about a $176/night 5* Paris for this date.

* When I followed through on the e-mail link, price had dropped to $120 for a 5* in La Defense/Puteaux/Neuilly hotel.

* From the description, I determined it was probably either the Sofitel or Pullman.

* Deciding to try my luck, I went to BiddingHelper.com.com to start a Priceline search.

* Entered a lowball bid of $90 for the three 5* zones (La Defense + Opera East + Opera West). PRICELINE didn't give me the message about there being no chance of winning at this price.

* Submitted the bid, and received a counteroffer of $112.

* Having something like 11 rebid zones for a Paris 5*, I rejected the counteroffer.

* Bid $95 then $100, and won at $100!

As stated, the HOTWIRE price was $120 and the retail price was $230.

Very excited about this win.
