Priceline Hotel: Bidding Tips for Paris (End of August)

Hello All!

I will be in Paris Aug 25 - 28 (Sat/Sun/Mon night) and wanted to use Priceline to score a nice hotel during my stay. I'm hoping to get 4+* hotels and am willing to split up my days (I actually prefer that as I get to experience different hotels and areas that way). Could anyone recommend the following:

1. Ideal zones to aim for to get 4-5 star hotels (are there specific hotels people tend to aim for?)

2. Price Range I should use (The less the better of course, but I'm ok with paying a bit more if it results in staying in a nicer hotel)

3. Any other tips you'd think would help me with PRICELINE

I will be sure to use the PRICELINE link on this site :)

Thank you for any help!

Thank you for your help! :) My budget is 100-250 USD a night. I'm hoping the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday stay will bring the price down. I'm even open to bidding for a new place each night but the fees per transaction might make it even more if I do that...

less than 200 would be amazing but I understand Paris can be a bit expensive. I appreciate your help!

Hello, look at the other winning bids, it seems like 100 for a 4 star possible, so perhaps I'd be more interested in location. Eiffel Tower seems like a good place, but a centrally located place would be ideal thanks!

Have you changed your dates? You started out with Sat,Sun,Mon but now mentioned Sun, Mon, Tue?

Those $100 rates may well be in the further out Priceline zones. Take a good look at the Priceline zone maps and make sure you are willing to stay out that far before you bid them. I've stayed in the La Defense zone and found it only took about another 10 minutes on a metro to get anywhere. But there really isn't any "night life" in the area as it is more business/commercial.

If you haven't found it already, you might want to look at the Calendar of Wins in the Tools menu above. There may be reported wins for your specific dates.

Another way of getting general information on rates is to just post your dates and "paris" in Hotwire (above left). You'll see the further out areas do come in at under $100, but the closer in ones are higher.

Maybe you could post back with a list of zones (by name) you are willing to bid up to "X" dollars. And if that bidding isn't successful, a list of further out zones with which you are still OK. You pick the "X" dollars. Then it would be possible to provide you with a bidding strategy.

Thank you Romelle! After much research and planning, we waited too long to book the tickets and will be doing a train trip around brussels instead :( But I will save this info for when we finally get to go to Paris. I appreciate your help!
