I got my first bid of $64, think I could have started lower as they offered me as many extra nights that I wanted for the same rate.

Not really... they offered you to try to add ONE additional nite to your stay.

PRICELINE's add-a-nite feature only allows you to add up to as many nites as your original reservation. Since your original purchase was only for one nite, you would only be allowed to try to add one nite to your stay.

Also, even when presented, they are offering you the option to try to add a nite to your stay. PRICELINE will then come back with one of three responses:

1) you've successfully added an additional nite

2) a room is available for the additional nite but only at $xx (and you then have the option to accept/reject the higher price)

3) no rooms available to extend your stay.
