Hello there,

i would like to stay in Time Square for 3 to 4 nights. will check out on 26 of Sept but still not sure if i should stay for 3 or 4 nights.

1- which is better, bidding for 3 nights or 4 nights in terms of better chance?

2- what would be the recommended strategy and price to start and go by.

3- im looking for 4*

just to keep you updated..this is my first ever biding trial..

i went on and select 4* in Times Square and started with $170 didn't work, raised by $5 - $10 all the way to $290 and still no luck.

went again, this time 4* in MidTown West and started with $170, kept adding $5 - $10 up to $200 with no luck.

from 23/9 to 26/9.

im not complaning, i just thought i let you know and since this is my first ever bid, im %100 sure that i made a mistake during the trials.

if you have any advise, im all ears...

1- which is better, bidding for 3 nights or 4 nights in terms of better chance?

Depends if the additional nite is prices higher/lower than the other nites... if the 'extra' nite is cheaper then it may bring down the average cost needed to win for the complete stay. If more expensive, then the opposite is true and including the extra nite may bring up the minimum bid needed to win.

2- what would be the recommended strategy and price to start and go by.

What is your maximum bid for this stay? Is Times Square (and now MTW apparently) the only acceptable zones for this trip? Other popular zones at the 4* level include MTE, ESB and CPS.

i will make it 3 nights instead of 4 from Sep 23 - Sep 26.

my maximum bid would be from $200 to $250 a night.

regarding the area, i would like to be within a walking distance from TS. i noticed also that priceline divide manhattan in a different way than other sites so, what is considered to be TS in PL might be MTE in other sites and vice versa!!

i would love to get the marriot marquis, crown plaza, double tree, W, Renaisance and the hotels srounding them.

thankx

just to keep you updated...

today i tried the following areas...

- Times Square

- Midtown West

- Midtown East

- Central Park South

- Empire State Building Area

all of them were selected at once in my first attempt and then i started to add areas that don't have a 4* hotel in them like the Coney Island and so.

raised my bids all the way up to $280 a night with no luck so far...

- i don't live in North America and my Credit card is not american, do you think that is the issue?

- some people won bid around the same period with 160 - 180? how?

Rates are date specific and can vary, someimtes significantly, from one day to the next... and rates for your dates are indeed much higher then the dates when the other recently won at $160.

Using BiddingHelper.com and/or MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for an acceptable hotel for your travel dates?
