brotine Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 Just tried (via BB PRICELINE link) for Long Island City for a Saturday/Sunday night stay; bid $120, then $130 using Coney Island as the only available rebid zone -- no cigar. With the Verve/Ascend available at $182 through advance purchase, I'm not thrilled about bidding much higher, but will try $140-ish bids tomorrow.>>Brent
thereuare Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 How are you arriving to the city (drive, plane, train) and if driving, from which direction are you coming from? Any interest in staying on the NJ side? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. brotine Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 Never done Jersey, but when I come to NYC by myself on business I've done Priceline for Brooklyn (Aloft is very nice), which I like better than the same-old midtown. For this trip we're flying, but it's a medical trip with my wife who gets treatment at Hospital for Special Surgery on the other side of the Queensboro, and we try to stay in the general area. (For the record, we stayed at the Bentley -- Priceline's one and only entry in the QB area -- last month, and weren't that impressed where we'd go back.
thereuare Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 NJ wouldn't be a good option if you need to be near 79th and the FDR Drive. You may want to use our MAPS and HOTELS.com website to see if any other option exist near your precise location (the map view makes it easy to see how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating OR to stay closer/further from your desired location).Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of any help along the way. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
