jouyang Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 I am going to hold my wedding ceremony at SF City Hall on 10/3 (Wed), and need 3 rooms for 10/2--10/3 (1 night). I am not familiar with this area (I stayed in Hyatt Regency once during a conference, and I think it's nice). Any recommendations on bidding strategy for hotels in this area around that time? Thank you very much.

inquisitive Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I just saw the FAQ about how to rebid...tricks/tips that some of the posters including yourself posted...love the visual explanation too! I will give it a shot...keeping my fingers crossed.
jouyang Posted August 9, 2012 Author Report Posted August 9, 2012 Hi thanks for the reply! I am looking for sth at least 3 stars and price is $100--$150 (better below $100 :)
thereuare Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 City Hall (from what i can gather from the map) is located in PRICELINE's "Civic Center South - Hayes Valley" zone... are you looking to stay in this zone or more 'downtown' in USE, USW, or SOMA... all of which look to be about .75-1.25 miles away. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jouyang Posted August 13, 2012 Author Report Posted August 13, 2012 Hi Thereuare, Sorry for the late reply. I am OK to stay in either Civic Center or any other downtown zones. Thanks for the help. -Jin

jouyang Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 Bid three times all for the same zones as follows: 1. Civic Center South2. Financial District3. SOMA4. USE5. USW1st bid: 4-star and up, $100: FAIL2nd bid: 3.5-star and up, $105: FAIL 3rd bid: 3-star and up, $110: FAILWill retry tomorrow.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 I would suggest waiting for a bidding strategy as your method above is not optimized and could easily result in an overbid... you shouldn't be lowering your star rating and raising your bid price at the same time, as discussed in this thread: If you Lower Your Star Rating Then Lower Your Bid Price. However, at current rates (which are quite high) your bids are not realistic. Using MAPS and HOTELS.com and/or BiddingHelper.com, what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
