nzpod Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Hi,I am hoping for a 5* LV experience on our US road trip.So I am booked din for the Trump on 30th and 31st Dec 2012. The rate I got through Expedia was 183USD a night. Total rip off but I guess thats NYE in Vegas huh? This is non refundable. And I posted earlier here and the advice was that bidding was unlikely to help at this tome of year.Anyway we are staying in Vegas until the 3rd. The prices at all the 5* strip hotels drop off on 1 and 2 Jan. I have booked a refundable Bellagio room for 208USD/night for 1st and 2nd.I need two rooms. one king and one twin.I only want a 5* hotel on the Strip. Like Wynns or Bellagio. It is actually quite important that it is a "popular" hotel as my mum has her heart set on one of those. So I guess my questions are:1) Is it worth bidding? Am I likely to get a cheaper rate?2) Will the price difference be worth the risk of ending up with something like Vdara?3) Is my Bellagio rate good?4) If it is worth Bidding what is my best strategy?Thank so much guys for your help. And as always I am clicking on those links :-)
thereuare Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 I have booked a refundable Bellagio room for 208USD/night for 1st and 2nd.In our Support Page we have links to the Bellagio (and many other hotel chains and online booking agencies)... if you're not, please check for and use the links there for your non-opaque purchases.I need two rooms. one king and one twin.As per our reply to your previous post with this same request:All PRICELINE rooms are guaranteed to accommodate double occupancy, but room type/bed configuration is not something that you can stipulate. You can call the hotel after you learn the name of the hotel you win and make a request, but there is no guarantee that the hotel will be willing, or able, to accommodate your request.I only want a 5* hotel on the Strip. Like Wynns or Bellagio. It is actually quite important that it is a "popular" hotel as my mum has her heart set on one of those.I'm not sure what a 'popular' hotel is... below you elude that you're not really interested in the Vdara, but i'd still consider that to be a 'popular' hotel. If you're not willing to accept any 5* hotel in the zone(s) that you bid then i wouldn't use PRICELINE for this leg of your trip.1) Is it worth bidding? Am I likely to get a cheaper rate?2) Will the price difference be worth the risk of ending up with something like Vdara?3) Is my Bellagio rate good?I see what i believe to be the Aria for $128/nite... so at this rate is this better/worse than your $200+ rate at the Bellagio? Is this an acceptable hotel for your mom and is the price worth the trade-off?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nzpod Posted August 9, 2012 Author Report Posted August 9, 2012 Hi Thanks for your reply. When I said Vdars I meant Aria. Apologies. And no we wouldn't really consider that. The places I wanted were bellagio wynns palazzo Venetian mandarin four seasons Is.aria considered 5* and in the same Priceline zone as the others above? Thanks
thereuare Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 The Aria, Vdara, Bellagio, Four Seasons, and Cosmopolitan are all located in the South Strip zone (not all have been reported to the board as participating with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, but geographically they're all located in the Strip South boundary of both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE). If any of these hotels are not acceptable then you shouldn't include these in your 5* bidding and should stick with only bidding the Strip North zone, assuming all 5* hotels in that zone are acceptable (or use HOTWIRE for the Strip South zone if you're able to be reasonable confident that you've accurately identify the property offered and it's one that you like).Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
