Hi I've trying to bid on 4* in NYC (Central Park South, TS, MW, ME)...would spend upto 160 + fees a night but have been unsuccessful. Any ideas on how to bid? I don't really understand how I should start bidding. What I have been doing is this. I start with a bid of 140 for MW....rejected then 145 for MW and TS....rejected then 150 for MW, TS, CPS...rejected then 155 for MW, TS, CPS and ME....rejected...then 160 for all those zones plus an extra day....rejected. I have tried various combinations of that. Those are the zones im willing to stay in as its my first time to NYC. Any ideas on how I should do this? Oh and please keep in mind I am really clueless at this stuff so if you could walk me through that would be helpful!!

Based upon current rates at the moment it doesn't appear that $160 will be enough for a 4* hotel in the zones that you're bidding.

You might improve your chances by bidding UWS (and to a lesser extent ESB) if that works for your plans... or i'm guessing it would currently take about $185-$205 for the zones you're currently bidding.

Do you have any interest in including these other zones, raising your budget, lowering your star rating, or did you want to wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead?

I don't get why mine wont win? :( the reason I say so is because I see other people winning at 140-160 a night. Is that because they are booking for 1 night only?

Rates are date specific and can very significantly from one day to the next. Demand (and therefore rates) for the dates of the other wins you're seeing are likely less than for your dates above.

Using BiddingHelper.com and/or MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?
