Hi,

Looking for a bidding strategy for a 4* hotel in Hoboken for three nights. I'd like to be close to the Path so would be happy with either:

Hyatt Regency On The Hudson

W Hoboken

Westin NJ

want to avoid Sheraton Lincoln Harbor if possible.

Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated and of course, will use you link for booking.

thx

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please read your messages.

...want to avoid Sheraton Lincoln Harbor if possible.

When you bid on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone... there is no way to avoid, or target, a specific property. There is no telling what hotel you will get before your bid, but Sheraton is probably a likely outcome. Is this acceptable?

What is your maximum bid for this trip?

i want to aviod Sheraton only due to location. thinking i may go three star as it appears those locations are closer to path. i'd like to try to get a 3* for 100/night. do you think thats doable during the timeframe?

The star rating you choose on PRICELINE is the minimum that you're willing to accept, so even if you bid 3* there is a chance that your bid is upgraded to the 4* level and you win the Sheraton. If you were to win the Sheraton for $100 would this be acceptable?

While i agree the Sheraton is the least preferred 4* hotel in the zone, the location has improved quite a bit since the opening of the waterfront walkway that takes you to Hoboken... which makes the location a bit better as you now have all the northern Hoboken restaurants and bars. The 'downside' is the commute by bus into the city, and while the trip is not long at all (subject to Lincoln Tunnel traffic conditions), it just lacks the "cool" factor and the "i'm on vacation factor because i'm traveling by subway which i don't have in my own hometown" factor.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

I just won a priceline bid for Sheraton Lincoln harbour from 7-10 September for $90 per night not including tax... So you should be fine within that budget... The cool factor could be made up by taking the boat across to manhattan? :)

When bidding at the 4* level in Hoboken you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Jersey City - Hoboken - Weehawken...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks.

Tried it out but used smaller incremental increases up to $108 and was rejected. Will try again tomorrow. Must be a high demend weekend in NYC as Kungfusu scored a deal at $90..

Looking at the three star hotels, they both seem decent. would i be better off going the 3* route if 4* get rejected. both locations seem better than sheraton.

thx

Just bid up to $140 this morning and was rejected. realize that unfortunatley, this is columbus day weekend in the US. what is the typical per night rate for long weekends? Assuming some hotels don't offer their romms up on these weekends constraining supply?

thanks!
