kstar Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 I have just read a few posts on this forum and attempted to secure myself a 4* hotel in SF (USE/USW) for 25Aug for 1 night. I used the PRICELINE links posted, and created my own strategy based on some I'd read here, started at $150 and ranging to $201 in $6/7 increments using rebid zones. However, I wasn't lucky in my bidding. I wanted to ask some advice:1. I have tried to close my browser and use the forum's links to re-access the Priceline website in order to continue bidding, but unfortunately the website remembers me.2. Does time of day make a difference? I.e. do you know when it would be best to try bidding? Perhaps new offers are released either at the end or beginning of the day? Great website, and many thanks in advance
thereuare Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Closing the browser doesn't eliminate the 24 hours lock-out period, but it does allow you to UNcheck zones that you had previously bid, thereby increase the number of bidding opportunities you can make. For example with TWO re-bid zones:Standard: (3 bids available)DowntownDowntown and re-bid zone1Downtown and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2Permutations: (4 bids available)DowntownDowntown and re-bid zone1Downtown and re-bid zone2 Downtown and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2Pertaining to your specific dates... rates are very high. Using BiddingHelper.com and/or MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels for a 4* hotel in the USE or USW zone? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kstar Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Oh I see (re closing the browser/different permutations), thank you! From memory, I think I can get the Hotel Nikko for $230ishThe PRICELINE site still isn't letting me re-bid. I'm a little perplexed as I've actually removed USW, and I'm just searching USE now!Odd.
kstar Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Ok, got to bid again.$191 for Sir Francis Drake.Happy!
