Priceline Hotel: Bidding advice 4 Beverly Hills

Hi,

I am looking for advice for how much to bid for the Beverly Hills area and Hollywood area as well. I'm looking for a 4 star hotel but I'm willing to go down to 3 stars if someone recommends a good hotel in that range. I have bid 120 a night so far but no luck. Would it be better to stay at a hotel 2 nights then try to bid on something else for the last night or should I just try all 3 nights at the same place?

Thanks

In order for a three night bid to be successful, a specific hotel has to have provided Priceline with rooms for all three nights. Three nights really isn't that long of a span, so bidding all three at once first for the convenience of not moving is always a good approach.

If unsuccessful, since splitting up the dates amounts to a sufficient change to continue bidding in the same session, one can then just bid nights 1&2. If this is successful, one can then bid night 3. If the nights 1&2 bid is not successful, then one can try nights 2&3 and then night 1.

Even if a hotel has offered all three nights, it may have offered them at different rates. It does some averaging, but IMO it can't always be counted upon to do it. That is another reason for splitting a bid.

Hotwire has a Beverly Hills 3* at $137, but only for your first night. For your other nights it only has higher star levels at considerably higher rates. This sort of suggests a split of night 1 and then nights 2&3 might work. I didn't look at the other Hollywood areas on Hotwire, but you mght want to do that.

Split bidding is typically indicated when there are larger differences between the rates of different nights. Holidays, conferences, games, ?? can make for some major swings. In your case, the Hotwire numbers for the 3.5* and 4.0* weren't that different from night to night.
