finch12 Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I have tried to get a 4* hotel downtown Toronto ( both North and south area ) for a 27th anniversary get away with out any joy. I went to $95 and it is not working for me. My dates are Friday August 24 to the 26th for one room ( 2 nights ). I have effectively used all my usual tricks and am tapped out. Not that I buy a hotel there everyday, but I have stayed at many properties over time in those two areas and never paid over $80 via priceline ( plus the added fees ). I am wondering where the lower limit on these areas may be and / or how I can keep it under $100 if possible.I would really appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks in advance !
AaronJB Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 Happy Anniversary! :)Unfortunately, rates vary substantially by date, and these dates do look moderately busier than usual. 4* for $100 or under appears unlikely at this time, but you're probably not too far off - I'm guessing it may take $110-125, although I'd try $100 and $105 before moving higher. How high are you willing to bid for a 4* hotel for this trip?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
finch12 Posted July 31, 2012 Author Report Posted July 31, 2012 Downtown, good location but a bit higher than I have ever paid for a room in TO.
finch12 Posted July 31, 2012 Author Report Posted July 31, 2012 Thanks! You were right. It took a few more Peso's to get a room for me and my bride. I started at $95 and worked up to $110 and got in at the Hilton. Significantly more than I have ever paid for a room on priceline other than downtown Chicago. Oh well it's for my bride and it's only money right?
AaronJB Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 Congrats on your success. Sorry to hear that the result was more expensive than hoped (may be a convention or other event going on), but hopefully the hotel will work well for this anniversary stay! :)Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
