john2003 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Bids made July 28, rejected up to $118 for Sept 28. I made 5 bids adding zones with no 4* hotels, staring at $95. Today I bid again $118 and it was again rejected. Obviously I am not in the right price zone for that period. I did get an email offering an instant rebid if I added $22 but I have ignored that as it is too rich. Not sure if I will try again as I can get a very convenient hotel for $149 with no booking fee, so I am approaching the limit.
bbbb Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 They will always take less the their counter offer. When you get a counter offer add a free rebid zone and up your bid by half the counter offer or less. The counter offer tells you that your not far off from the winning bid amount.

john2003 Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 The alternative is $149 which includes the airport shuttle. So when I take off the Priceline fee I am looking at about $129. I have some reservations that in the 4* group there appear to be properties that may be more 3* ish and teh Sheraton is in a less convenient location. So I am still pondering.
john2003 Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 Tried again with a new series of bids, $122, $126 and finally $130. This was accepted for the Marriott San Diego Hotel and Marina. Total charges $153.11. I think this is a pretty successful bid, as $250 seems to be the cheapest rate I found on the web. Thanks for the advice.
