javster Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Hi there. I need a hotel in Vegas for 3 nights (Sept 8-11) and want to stay at a 5* north strip hotel like Wynn, Palazzo or Venetian...but definitely avoid the Trump. Is there a bidding strategy I can use to avoid the Trump? If I look at the Express Deal section, only one 5* North appears for $164. I've seen on this board people getting Palazzo or Venetian for $135 or so (I know that it might also be because of different dates). I think if I can get the room for $135 to $150, then I will be happy. So any help would be appreciated. And I'll definitely use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links when booking. :)Javi
AaronJB Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. The Trump has been previously reported to the board in the Strip North Vicinity area - so you would be best to bid in the Strip North area. Rates are a little high on these dates, but I'm guessing you should be able to get a 5* in the Strip North area for $135-150; I'd start at $115 and work higher by $5's using re-bidding. Please do let us know if you have any questions prior to bidding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
javster Posted July 29, 2012 Author Report Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks for that. That's what I'm kinda scared of is getting the Trump. I prefer to use Hotwire but as it only lists one 5* per area and the only 5* listed is what seems to be the Trump (kitchenette is one of the amenities), I'm kinda stuck. I wonder if Hotwire rotates the 5* hotels or if the Trump will keep on coming up every single day as the only 5* North.
AaronJB Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Just to clarify/correct, the Trump has last been reported to the board on PRICELINE in the Strip North Vicinity area, so you would be best to bid in the Strip North area instead of Strip North Vicinity. As for HOTWIRE, you MAY see a different listing if you search for 2 adults and 2 children, even if there isn't two children in the party.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
javster Posted July 29, 2012 Author Report Posted July 29, 2012 Hey, thanks very much for clarifying that. I admit I did misread what you wrote. I did try the adding 2 kids (thank God they're not real!) to Hotwire but still got the Trump. I then decided to use Priceline (using your link, of course) to bid as you suggested. Started at $115 but finally got accepted at $150 for the Venetian, which was my number one choice after also buying the Venetian two years ago through Hotwire. Loved it there and the lady at the check-in upgraded me to a beautiful suite for free. :)Now I just have to sort out my New York, San Francisco, L.A. and Anaheim hotels. I will post on the forums for those cities if I need help. Thanks again. :)Javi
Romelle Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Now I just have to sort out my New York, San Francisco, L.A. and Anaheim hotels. I will post on the forums for those cities if I need help.Javi,I'm a member, not a moderator, but thought I'd mention a couple reasons why I hope you'll still link through this site for the above hotels and then also post the results here: 1 - The "linking through" is what funds this site so it can be there the next time you need help. 2 - the posting of results helps other bidders Sounds like you really scored with that Las Vegas hotel!Romelle
