nycw Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Hi, I am visiting San Francisco for the 1st time and am looking for a 3.5* to 4* hotel in the union square east area ( most forum suggest it is the most convenient / safe area for tourists). I won't be having a car so convenience is a top priority.Budget is up to 150/nightI am not very familiar with priceline and am not sure if it is optimal to use it during busy weekends like this (labor day). I'm looking to bid on PRICELINE, but can do HOTWIRE as well. Can you please suggest a bidding strategy?Thank you for your help!

thereuare Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5*? In other words... did you want to first bid for a 4* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5* OR do you want the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nycw Posted July 28, 2012 Author Report Posted July 28, 2012 I would rather first bid for a 4* up to my limit, thank you
thereuare Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 When bidding 4* in San Franciscio you have SEVEN re-bid zones... SIX re-bid zones when bidding 3.5*. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* USE...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE and re-bid zone7...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* USE...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* USE and re-bid zone6...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $150If the above is rejected you may want to consider including USW or it appears the Thursday nite is the more expensive of the three and may be causing the difficulty i getting this bid accepted and may want to think about SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID. But we can discuss these and explore other options if/when necessary. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
