Edit: I just realized, I searched these under 2 people... will they be able to accommodate 3 people, or should I do a new search?

HOTWIRE only guarantees occupancy for the number of guests you include in your search. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request... this is especially true in Europe where rooms tend to be a bit more on the smaller/spartan side and many standard rooms are not designed for more than double occupancy. To book double occupancy in Europe when you'll actually be triple occupancy would be a fairly substantial risk, imo. To be safe i would search for 3 adults, but don't be surprised of you see the number of hotels offered decrease and the room rate increase.

When searching HOTWIRE for triple occupancy does anything appear within your desired zones, star rating, and budget?

I have been using the links.

My husband seems to think that the prices may drop after the olympics are over... I know that there is no way to know for sure, but what do you suggest?

Nobody can say if rates will drop, or move higher... but if they do drop it won't be due to the Olympics ending. Just to play devil's advocate, maybe more people are intrigued seeing the city of London on TV for the next two weeks and decide to make that their next trip... that would potentially make rate rise.

As well, you need triple occupancy which will, especially in Europe, limit the available inventory and usually increase the price.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Found an OK deal on Travel Zoo, so I went with it. Unfortunately it's still going to cost me $233 per night (taxes included) since we have 3 adults. The deal is really for 2 adults and 2 children, which would have made it $186 per night... but they weren't willing to substitute our 1 adult for the 2 children, which is ridiculous in my opinion! On the bright side, if I happen to find something better later on then I can cancel without any penalties
