Priceline Hotel: 3* Halifax Westin Nova Scotian

Hi,

I have convinced my inlaws to use Priceline, but want to make sure it works for them.

They will be in Halifax from 4th to 10th of Sept. They would like the 3 star and have made one unsuccessful bid at $45.

I think I have one rebid with bedford. Am I right? What should they bid? Would it make sense to break the days into two three day periods?

Yes, you have your one re-bid zone correct (always double-check it before bidding).

However, the known 3* hotel in this zone is sold-out for the nite of 9/7... the hotel shows availability when searching for the complete stay, but not when looking at the individual nite of the 7th.

I would bid again (using your re-bid zone) and bid $52.

If that is rejected and they dont' mind changing hotels during their stay, i would bid for just the first three nites (9/4-9/7) and bid $42, if that is rejected user your re-bid zone and try $45.

If the above is accepted we'll then figure out a plan for the second half of their stay.

Can you answer a few more questions? I am Canadian. On Priceline I entered my Canadian info on line 2 and put in dummy US info for state and zip. Is that OK?

Also, is there any possibility at all the second zone might work? My inlaws would kill me if they were successful in the second zone!

There is always a very minute chance that a 3* hotel could be added to your re-bid zone between the time you checked it last and the time you place your bid. I'm doubtful the 'extra' bids above would be successful, so if you don't want to use re-bid zones (although we recommend you try to learn to get comfortable with them) then i would just skip the extra attempt for the complete stay and just try $45 for the first three nites.

Your address as you describe above should work, you'll know if it doesn't.

How exactly do you find out if the hotel is uavailable on the 7th? Was that using a third site?

Also tried to get 8/9th for $45 and bid failed. Any solutions?

If you go to the hotel's website and look for each nite indvidually you'll see that there is no availbility for the nite of the 7th.

Glad you got half the stay taken care of... are the in-laws impressed?
