Minty Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 I'm hoping to get a 5* or 4* for Aug 2-5 on the Strip, excluding Trump and Vdara. Priceline doesn't give me Las Vegas Strip South as a zone, only Las Vegas Strip North, Vicinity North, and Vicinity South. Is Vicinity South the same as Strip South? I would like to be under $100/night if possible. Any help would be much appreciated!Thank you,M
thereuare Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Las Vegas Strip North = Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, etcVicinity North = TrumpVicinity South = Strip South...excluding Trump and Vdara. You can 'safely' exclude the Trump by not including that zone... but you won't be able to exclude the Vdara unless you don't bid the Strip South entirely... leaving you with only the Strip North zone.Or you could use HOTWIRE and purchase any hotel in the Strip South or Strip North zones that shows a Casino... since neither the Trump nor the Vdara have a casino.Let us know your thoughts/questions and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Minty Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks! I think I'll try a bid for the Strip North first!
Minty Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 Well I just got royally screwed by the Re-bid Zones, I checked Summerlin as my last re-bid zone for a 4* or 5*, I won the JW Marriott which is a Resort even though I had not checked that button. The site had it checked and did not give me the option to uncheck it. Priceline will not cancel my reservation or refund my money. They said the resort meets the 4* or higher quality level which is why it was included even though it is a resort. I don't want to stay there and I want my money back!!!
Minty Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 All is well again, I battled PL about their site problem of choosing Resorts for me when the whole time I only had 4* or 5* selected and NO resorts. The winning hotel was JW Marriott in Summerlin which on the PL site has no stars associated with it. JW cancelled my reservation and PL is processing my refund! No more bidding for me!
thereuare Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Glad to see you got the issue resolved, but so you (and anyone else following along) know, the 'problem' is that the star rating you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept... as a result your 4* bid was upgraded to a resort class property (which in the bidding hierarchy should be considered a 4.5* rating)If you decide to try PRICELINE again in the future let us know if we can be of help... or you may want to consider HOTWIRE.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay... and have fun in Vegas! Minty Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 Thanks for the help. I actually made a reservation on a different site that I can cancel and it was cheaper than HOTWIRE!
