Angel15563 Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Hi! I am new to the board. I am heading to NYC on Oct 14-15. There will be four adults, so from what I have read, we will need to use Hotwire and not Priceline, is that correct? We are planning to use the PATH train to come in from New Jersey, the highest stop is 33rd/6th. From there we could take a subway to the hotel. Would like to be not too far from Times Square but don't neccessarily need to stay right in Times Square. Would like a 3-4 star hotel that would be easily accessible from either the PATH train stop or a subway.
Angel15563 Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 I guess I forgot to mention, would like to spend no more than $150. Is that doable???
thereuare Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!I assume you're looking for one room for four adults? At the moment i doubt you'll find anything for this nite at $150 or less as it's an expensive time of year, but the one thing you do have going for you is that this is a Sunday nite, which is typcally the slowest nite of the week for hotels. If you start by searching HOTWIRE for 4adults (or 2adults/2children if that is the make up of your group) do you see anything offered within your desired star rating near $150/nite?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Angel15563 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 When searching for 4 adults on hotwire, a Midtown Central 3 star shows up for $220, and an Empire State 3 star shows up for $220 as well. Both are acceptable locations for me, but I would really like less than that for price. Any advice?Any input on the Travel Inn? I saw it on a budget list of hotels in NYC.
Angel15563 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 I would increase my spending limit to $200, but probably no more than that.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 With HOTWIRE the price you see is the price you pay, there is no bidding, so current all of the properties shown are above your budget.... something will have to 'give'; either you will raise your budget, lower your star rating, consider other zones, or the hotels will lower rates. The Travel Inn isn't my type of property, but even that is priced at $280/nite for quad occupancy for your dates above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Angel15563 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 Thanks. I am hoping the prices go down. I am flexible for location and star rating, but would like to keep it under $200.
Angel15563 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 I just saw this on Hotwire...4-star Hotel in Times Square - Theatre District $200This Hotel features the following amenities:Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Which hotel do you think this is??? I found it when I searched for only 2 people (which i do need room for 4 adults)
thereuare Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I found it when I searched for only 2 people (which i do need room for 4 adults)Then it would seem that this hotel isn't an option... unless you're able to get it to appear when searching for 4 adults. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
