mommachef Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Even using the 11 re-bid zones and going up to $102, still rejected!!!Any other ideas? I was hoping to pay less, of course...
AaronJB Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. What would be your desired budget per night for your stay? Rates are moderately higher than normal, but I'm guessing you're probably not too far off from a win.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 If you look at Hotwire for individual days, your first day is clearly the highest. And then the rates drop for the second day, and again for the third. For your first day, a Hotwire 4* is $131 and a 3.5* is $90. If you'd consider splitting your bid and chancing a move, your bidding might be more successful for just days 2 and 3. Then trying to bid the first day, with that Hotwire 3.5* as your back-up plan. mommachef Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks for the info. I just got our conference itinerary and we might be able to come in on 9/13 instead anyway. This could work! :)Our company has rooms at the Hyatt Regency for $179 so I definitely want to do better than that!
mommachef Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Changed my itinerary to 9/13 to 9/15, bid up to $98 and still not accepted. :(I'll keep trying, through your PRICELINE link of course.Next time I may add 3.5* too.
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 for 9/12-15, I think you're probably looking at $110-125 for a 4* in the Downtown area.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Changed my itinerary to 9/13 to 9/15, bid up to $98 and still not accepted. For 9/13-9/15 HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Hotel Monaco or Hotel Oxford for $113/nite, both of which are very well reviewed... should either of these be of interest. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mommachef Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Finally successful. $98/nt at the Westin
mommachef Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Started at $70 and kept going up in $5 increments by adding new zones that didn't have 4*. Once I got to $95 and was rejected, I decided to go in smaller increments and BOOM $98 was the winner! And of course I started my bid via the PRICELINE link!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Hope you're pleased with the results and nice to see you saved quite a bit over the conference rate.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
