happyme Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 Hi there,Will go to Legoland and need a hotel room for 8/3-8/5. Last 3 days I've been bidding on PL for 3* at Oceeanside-Carlsbad. No luck on bidding and max was $62. Last bidded 3* $55 for Oceanside rejected then added North County Coastal for $58 and last added San Ysidro for $62 with no suceed. Would appreciate any bidding strategy. Prefer to stay near Legoland but if not willing go further along to Downtown San Diego. If that will give me a better chance. ThanksHappyme
happyme Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Updated tried the bidding again still 3* all the zones in SD went up to $90. What you think the best bet? Thank you inadvance.
Romelle Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 I'm a member, not a moderator. But if I were bidding and had pretty much topped my budget at the 3* level, I'd be looking at the 2.5* hotels. Or booking a cancelable back-up reservation and continuing trying the 3*s up until the last minute. FYI - HOTWIRE's low for your dates was a 3* Chula Vista - San Ysidro area hotel at $80. RomellePS - and as a member, I hope you are bidding through the links here. That is what keeps this site in business.
happyme Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Thank you very much RomelleThat's exactly what I'm doing with a back-up reservation. Hoping to get a good deal with a 3* if not I'll stay at my original plan. Just to mention I do used the links here to bid and will keeping doing it with all my hotel reservation from now on.Happyme
thereuare Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 At the moment in your original zones i think you may be looking about ~$165-185 for a 3*... a 2.5* may be had for ~115-$140.Have you found a suitable back-up... if so, where and how much? (you can also use a sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com to help in your search for a back-up reservation)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
