Hi,

I need a hotel room for August 17th-19th. Looking for a 3-4* for around $150 (or cheaper would be even better) and in downtown Seattle. Can anyone give me tips, I see users finding 3-4* for less than $115 a night, however the cheapest one I can find is around $180. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, I appreciate the help!

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Rates vary significantly from day-to-day; unfortunately, the dates you are looking for look to be busier/more expensive - you are not doing anything wrong. Are you seeing any listings of interest (although more than you intended to spend, unfortunately)? If so, please provide the full list of amenities showing with the listings. Otherwise, would you be interested in trying bidding instead?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I wouldn't mind bidding, I actually tried already up to $135 for a 3.5* and above on Priceline but got denied. Guess I'll just keep searching though.

Now this might not be true all the time but I have made 3 hotel bookings in last 2 weeks. Though I was keeping an eye on prices for over 5 weeks. I noticed there is curve. Essentially, if the hotel has availability closer to the date, they try to unload those rooms at a lower price than say 3-4 weeks prior.

I say just hang in tight. And to verify my theory, check on the 08/02-08/04 Seattle Downtown Pike Place hotel 4*, prices for next few days. I am betting they would be lower than what I paid - $138.

For example the price for your dates $191 right now is either Sheraton or Westin and I got both of them for <$150.

Just make sure there are no Events in the city for the dates of interest. You can ask fols in seattle forum on tripadvisor.

Good luck.
