I am a new member of betterbidding.com and a first time priceline user as well.

I am trying to bid on a 4* hotel in the Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area for October 25-28, thursday - sunday. (yes, the time and area are pretty fixed)

After reading about strategies on this forum i submitted my initial bids a few hours ago:

$80 - Rejected

$90 - Rejected

$100 - Rejected

$105 - Rejected

$110 - Rejected

I have plenty of time ahead of me, I dont really have a $$ limit either (I'm just trying to get the best value 4* hotel).

My question is how fast should i be increasing my bids over the next few weeks, and is there a range i should hover around until it gets closer (Yes, I have read the posts on "When to bid" but i was just curious if anybody had any advice in my case specifically.)

I really like this site, Priceline seemed too daunting or scary until I did some research here.

Thanks,

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Chicago in October is generally at least moderately busy/expensive, and sometimes worse. Are you only looking for the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area? If so, my guess is that you're likely not too far off - my guess is a 4* with for these dates in the Millennium Park zone will likely require $115-130.

Have you also considered the NMA-River North zone... or do your plans focus more on activities in the Loop zone? The two zones are somewhat interchangeable, with the Loop being closer to museums and the aquarium while the NMA-River North zone is closer to shopping and nightlife.

I considered it, but the planned activities are all in the loop area, and we wanted to walk, when possible.

If i cant get anything at a reasonable price, i will probably look in the River North. Thanks for the suggestions.

HOTWIRE has a 4* in the Mag Mile North-Water Tower area w/fitness, pool, restaurant, internet, business, indoor pool for $140 - that has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess is that it may be the Hilton Suites or Hyatt Mag Mile.

I also see what appears to be the Palmer House for $151 - let us know if that is of interest.

Have you tried the re-bidding stratgy with a zone that doea not have 4*? i am trying the same thing for NMA and have been rejected so far for September.

Let us know once something is booked!

Different dates often result in different (and possibly substantially different) rates. Please start a new thread with the details of your stay and we would be happy to offer suggestions.
