PeoriaBadger Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 Won this bid for $42 on the first try, in fact had put in for a 3 star and was told my bid won the Doubletree reservation which was 3.5 star. Taxes were $14.18 for a grand total of $56.18 for one night at the Doubletree. This was the first time I have ever used Priceline (although I have used Hotwire many times), and after I won the bid I was a little worried b/c I would have my family with me and we REALLY needed the two beds! Three days before our stay I called the hotel directly and politely put in a request for a room with two beds. The staff I spoke to said their double-bed rooms were completely booked (although I checked the Doubletree website < 3 minutes before this conversation and they were available) and they could not guarantee two beds, although there was also the option of getting a roll-away. Recent TripAdvisor reviews also talked about how this hotel was currently being remodeled and if you got a remodeled room they were great but if you didn't they could be pretty run-down. Fearing the worst since I had won such a low bid, we pulled in to the Doubletree and upon check-in my worries were put to rest, they had booked me a double bed room no problem. Not only did we have two beds, but we also had a remodeled room that was sparkling clean and wonderful. Couldn't have had a better experience, and Priceline gave us a fantastic deal! Extremely pleased and I would highly rate this hotel!

PeoriaBadger Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 The funny thing is we didn't get any cookies upon check-in, so we missed out there, but I'm totally not complaining!! We're good with the discount!
thereuare Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 The funny thing is we didn't get any cookies upon check-in... :o I have young kids which makes it really easy to ask for extra cookies throughout the stay ;)Other than missing out on some homestyle goodness, glad to hear the rest of the stay went well and you found it to be a good value for the price paid. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
