Excellent deal on what seems to be my annual pilgrimage to paradise :).

Priceline rejected a $14 bid on a full size so I went to Hotwire instead of trying $15, since this blows away the rate on the cancellable backup I made. I'll try upgrading for a few bucks a day if that option is available.

Car daily rate - Hotwire hot Rate: $15.95

Rental days: 7

Subtotal: $111.65

Tax recovery charges and fees: $44.41

Trip total: $156.06

BTW, an important tip. When I opened Hotwire using my regular browser, the rate was $1-$2 higher per day across most car classes. When I opened an InPrivate IE window, prices went down. I was still able to click the HOTWIRE link and get the reduced prices. So please try this trick if you are in the market for a car.
