augustdawn
Hi, I am going to bid on Priceline for 2 tickets from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires for September 5-15th. I'm getting rates in the range of $699-775 on Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, etc...Priceline's lowest price is $781, so I'm thinking of bidding all the way down to 40% off, being $468 (w/taxes).When I test out the bid I do get the "Please reconsider your price to increase your chances of getting your tickets" message. I still want to take my chances but a 72 hr wait could hurt me more than upping the bid a few bucks. So does anyone think this bid is realistic? Has anyone else bid on tix to Argentina before? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Savings on airfare are usually not that great, but you have nothing to lose by trying. With a monty before your trip i don't see the harm in trying whatever price you're comfortable with.As well, you can use 'airline re-bid zones' by selecting alternate airports on your first request page, but then NOT checking them on the page where you submit your bid. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
augustdawn
Didn't have any luck, I was surprised because I've saved so much on Hotels with Priceline before. We're now trying to find a different destination in northern-south america/ central. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
It's not so much this route, big savings on airfare are usually hard to come by. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
urso_polar
Before I knew about this board, I flew Detroit - Buenos Aires via priceline in Jan 2004. Your schedule is during shoulder season, so it should be a little less. If I recall correctly, the best airfares (including taxes) I could find were high 800s, hotwire was about 850 & my priceline bid was accepted for 605 for a total of 694 including taxes. If you can't find a good priceline fare, check with the consolidators. Have a nice & safe trip Link to comment
