mcholiday Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 Hi,I'm looking for a 3.5 or 4* hotel in Union Sq East area for 4 nights (Monday 1st Oct-Friday 5 Oct 2012) I started at $160 per night and i've gone up to $215 but had no success. Am I way out? I noticed online that there is an air show in SF that week so i'm not sure if that's had an impact on prices. My max bid would be around $260 per night so I don't know if i'll have to look at other areas?Any help appreciated.Thank you!
thereuare Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't know if it's the air show or some other event, but rates are very high and availability downtown is limited for these dates. For example, in all of downtown HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Fishermans Wharf zone for $380/nite and a 1* in the USW zone for $199/nite. It's still early, but there is no way to tell if inventory will open closer to your stay or get even worse. Is $260 your maximum bid at this time? Any other zone(s) acceptable? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. mcholiday Posted July 21, 2012 Author Report Posted July 21, 2012 Thank you for your help so far!It does seem to be extraordinarily high prices for those particular dates. Unfortunately $260 or thereabouts is our budget per night. We would be willing to stay in the Financial District too but i'm not sure if that will make any real difference? Thanks again.
thereuare Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Adding the Financial District may not help your ultimate results, but it certainly won't hurt, and it will give you more bidding opportunities. When bidding 4* in the San Francisco area you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Financial District...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Financial District and USE...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $250, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $260Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
