Soupuu Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 Note - I had a $7 per night Priceline coupon that I used. Not sure if it skews the data a bit ...Started with Arlington Heights @ $30re-bid w/Algonquin @ $32re-bid w/Lake Zurich @35Hit with Courtyard by Marriott Arlington Heights South!Price: $35/night, $140 total for 2 rooms, 2 nights.taxes: $29.88total: $169.88Rooms: 2Dates: 7/27 - 7/29Right across from my group's favorite Japanese grocery store :) I might have been able to knock off $5 more bucks by waiting a little longer I think, but I didn't want to risk not getting a room, as I read there was an Irish Festival happening that weekend. We're going to Six Flags up in Gurnee too on Saturday. Any advice as far as avoiding lines as such is welcomed. Our group of 5 got a parking pass ($20 + gas vs. $40 rountrip via the shuttle @ Schaumburg), and will be driving up from Arlington Heights. We're hoping to hit up Hmart on the way back from the park for some Korean goodness
AaronJB Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Awesome win and I would highly recommend a stop at Hmart. Not sure about avoiding the lines, but in terms of savings, there's always bringing in coke cans - local Diet Coke cans have save $20 on admission at the Gurnee Six Flags 5/5-9/9.One non-expressway route suggestion:Arlington Heights Road (which is right by the hotel) North to McHenry Road (rt 83). Continue North on Rt 83, and shortly after getting on 83 and heading North, you will see Robert Parker Coffin Road heading West. Robert Parker Coffin Road leads into the historic town of Long Grove, which is incredibly cute, quaint and offers a variety of shops and restaurants, such as the Long Grove Confectionery (which has great chocolates). website - http://www.visitlonggrove.com/ . The town is the state's first "historic district."If you don't stop at Long Grove (or after Long Grove), continue North on 83 a short distance to Rt 22, then take 22 East to Milwaukee Ave (rt 21) - take Milwaukee Ave North and that goes right past Great America. A mile or so NW of Six Flags is Gurnee Mills, which is a large outlet mall. I like the outlet mall just North of the WI/IL border moderately more, but Gurnee Mills is an outlet mall option right by Six Flags. Please note that you can still use your Bonus Cash along with the board's PRICELINE links as follows...1) click the PRICELINE link on the board2) go to the MY PROFILE >> MY REWARDS link at the top right of their home page3) use the bonus money link in the MY REWARDS section of your profile (not a link from an email) and bid as usualEnjoy your stay.
