kimsbeom Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 I'm trying to find 3* hotel near SeaWorld and hopefully near La Jolla beach. I'll stay only one night 8/17~8/18. I had expected winning bid between $90~$100 for 3* but failed so far. I saw one winning bid in this forum w/ $120 on 4* hotel in the same region. I'm willing to pay $120~$130 for 4*. However, it seems like there're no more PL rooms. (At least I can try with so many free rebids... but I still prefer 3* or 2.5* hotels.)Any advice? Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Rates are high for your dates (only one hotel in the 'typical' area). It's not entirely clear whether you'd rather raise your bid or lower your star ratnig, but i do think you'll be successful if you are willing to bid as high as $130, and if you choose to do so, i would raise my star quality to a 4*... just to make sure you don't end up at a 3* when you could have had a 4* for just a few dollars more.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a bidding strategy to follow if you'd like. kimsbeom Posted July 30, 2005 Author Report Posted July 30, 2005 I did a little research and found a few BestWestern Inns.Best Western Blue Sea Lodge $220Best Western Hacienda Suites-Old Town $154~$240Best Western Mission Bay Inn $150Blue Sea Lodge has a really great location, but we cannot afford the price. Other two have reasonable location... and maybe affodable price... ;-)Because we're only looking for good location (like Blue Sea Lodge or at least the other two inns), lowering to 2* will not be a problem as long as we can get similar property like the above. We're not necessarily looking for big room w/ many amenities. We want it to be clean, bug-free, welcoming-staffed. :)When upping to 4*, our limit can be $140, considering hotel price on that period. (Why so expensive???) So, I'm in very tricky situation. Can I lower 2* and get good location w/ reasonable property? If I can get it w/ less than $100, that'd be best. If 2* hotels in the region are not good enough, I'm willing to pay $140 or little more for 4*. Sorry for being not that clear about star-rating. :)Any suggestion is more than welcome.
kimsbeom Posted July 30, 2005 Author Report Posted July 30, 2005 I got 4* Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines w/ $130. ($125 rejected)I'm a little bit disappointed because its location is bit off from La Jolla beach & SeaWorld. :) But, still I'm satisfied with the result. Hotel Name: Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines10950 North Torrey Pines RoadLa Jolla, California 92037Your Offer Price: $130.00Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 1Subtotal: $130.00Taxes and Service Fees: $23.11Total Charges: $153.11Considering steep price on that time period, it seems not that bad deal. Thanks.
