bedderbidder Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Hello, I look forward to and appreciate any help I can get on these subjects. I am booking a hotel for a few days in Vegas (mainly looking at 4-5 stars in the south area for early August), but am concerned about a few things when it comes to priceline vs hotwire:Hotwire has "free amenities" such as parking and internet. If I go through Priceline, will I lose those? These "Resort Fees" I keep on reading about will apply ON TOP of anything I have to pay thru Priceilne or Hotwire, correct?
AaronJB Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 HOTWIRE and PRICELINE do not offer upgrades; if an amenity (breakfast, for example) is available to everyone, it is available to HOTWIRE or PRICELINE customers, but if it is part of an upgrade (package deal, etc) then it is not.Resort fees are added on top of PRICELINE and HOTWIRE rates - they are also added on top of regular rates. Please provide the date/s of travel and desired budget per night if you need assistance with your stay.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bedderbidder Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Thanks for your response. It looks like there's no getting around those "resort fees". However, I look forward to saving big on Priceline or Hotwire - I've seen the South Strip amounts drop from around $133 to $100 for 5-star between 8/3 and 8/7. Once I book using these links I'll update you all with my results! At this time, it looks like it's most likely to be Vdara.

bedderbidder Posted July 12, 2012 Author Report Posted July 12, 2012 I guess I don't really care too much about the hotel = as long as it's above a 3.5* and close to the Bellagio and cheap, I'm good with it. Overall I think I'd prefer to have a 4* in the south area closer to the Bellagio - but there seem to be less 5*s, and all of the 5*s seem to be close to the Bellagio in the south strip vicinity so I Figured it'd be a better bet to do it that way.
thereuare Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Other than you wanting to be close to the Bellagio i'm not sure i'm following your wants/needs for this trip... what is your desired budget for this trip? ('cheap' means something different to everyone)Do you consider the Flamingo to be 3.5* rated... $111/nite for your dates and no resort fee? What about Harrahs for $90 and no Resort fee.... or Ballys at $137 and no resort fee. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bedderbidder Posted July 13, 2012 Author Report Posted July 13, 2012 Hello,I definitely see that my response was not detailed enough. On one hand, getting around $80 for a 5-star hotel would be a great deal. On the other hand, paying around $40-$60 for a 3.5-4* hotel would also be amazing. So "cheap" would be relative based ont he type of quality level I'm getting. I'm definitely planning on using HOTWIRE or PRICELINE blind bidding, though - at the end of the day price is king over specific location, and I'm even down to take into consideration paying resort fees as long as the base price is good.

I'm thinking of closing this week - currently for 8/2-8/7 there is a $69 and $102 on Hotwire for 4* and 5*, respectively. Given that, I'd like to pay around $40-50 for the 4* or $70-80 for the 5* after bidding on Priceline if that's feasible (given my experience, that's around the relative range of accepted bids). I am liking your idea of mixing it up over the days as well -- but I have a 5-day $50 priceline coupon link that I'd like to use -- BTW it doesn't let me add it to my profile as it's an older link. Could you provide me with some idea of how to use your site links to use this coupon?
AaronJB Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Could you provide me with some idea of how to use your site links to use this coupon? Please note that you can still use your Bonus Cash along with the board's PRICELINE links as follows...1) click the PRICELINE link on the board2) go to the MY PROFILE >> MY REWARDS link at the top right of their home page3) use the bonus money link in the MY REWARDS section of your profile (not a link from an email) and bid as usual
bedderbidder Posted July 16, 2012 Author Report Posted July 16, 2012 The coupon I have was from a link in an email:We are always looking for ways to improve our products and services and we appreciate feedback from our customers. Thank you for taking the time to share your issues/concerns with us. At Priceline, customer satisfaction is our number one priority and we will continue to do our best to make your Priceline experience a pleasant one. Please accept this bonus money for your next Priceline HOTEL request as a token of appreciation for your time and consideration. The details of the bonus and the bonus money are as follows: Copy and paste the entire URL provided below into your browser. Enter your offer details (if you need help, refer to our Help Section at the top of the page.) Confirm your offer information on the next page. Notice the Add-on bonus listed at the bottom. Priceline will add this amount onto your bid when searching for available properties. Complete the rest of the process and you should have your answer within minutes! You must use the link to place your offer in order to receive the bonus. This offer is only valid for HOTEL reservations purchased through Priceline's Name Your Own Price service. Please note this offer expires on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 11:59 PM Eastern Time. (when I click on the link, the expiration date changes to something more recent).
bedderbidder Posted July 19, 2012 Author Report Posted July 19, 2012 I had $10 in Bonus Cash and got the Luxor for $55+10 bonus cash. I started bidding at $45, and then added two rebid zones until I hit $55, which was accepted. I was hoping to be near the north end of the NV - Vegas Strip South zone near the Vdara, but unfortunately things didn't turn out ideal. Thanks for providing the Hotwire and PRICELINE links so I could access the sites easily.
thereuare Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Sorry to see this location isn't ideal for your plans, but at least the price is right and hopefully you'll be able to make it work for your needs. You can also 'monorail hop' from the Luxor to the Excalibur, then take the 'City Center' monorail (i'm not sure the southern most stop) to the Bellagio if you're looking to save some taxi money and don't feel like walking the entire route.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Have a great trip!
