ahhhitsshannyn Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Trying to find at least a 3* in the Fishermans Wharf or Union Square East Area. I bid $84 with 3.5* with both areas checked, the second bid I went down to 3* with $84 and got rejected again. What should I bid tomorrow? Am I way too low?
ahhhitsshannyn Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 Also I just tried $86 and added Union Square West and Financial District, still no dice.
thereuare Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm guessing that at the moment you'll need to be at $120-$140 for a 3* or better in one of these zones. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable property when using MAPS and HOTELS.com or our BiddingHelper.com? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ahhhitsshannyn Posted July 19, 2012 Author Report Posted July 19, 2012 I don't think we can go over $500 for the entire stay, so with fees and all that it looks like the maximum would be $140. I was hoping to go lower since we would be paying for parking as well. I tried this morning by starting with Fishermans Wharf @ $100Added USE @ $105Added Financial District @ $110And ended with USW @ $115Still no luck I looked at your link and it looks like the lowest price for a 3* was King George hotel at $149 but didn't get the best reviews. The other option would be the Chancellor or Marriot at $179.
thereuare Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 You can bid better than you are, but for us to suggest a strategy, are you willing to accept a hotel in any of the four zones above that you selected (FW, USE, USW, FD)... or only the FW and USE zones as per your original post? Also, I do think you have a chance at a 4* hotel in one of the four zones at $140 or less... do you want to try for the higher rated hotel up to your limit before trying the lower star rating... OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?Let us know the information above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ahhhitsshannyn Posted July 20, 2012 Author Report Posted July 20, 2012 I ended up finding a 4* in financial district for $151 per night on Hotwire. It is the Le Meridian which I am very happy with.
