merrytravels Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 My first post, so be gentle...My husband and I have never used Priceline but we think we might be able to get a good deal through it on the Venetian for an upcoming trip. We're arriving on a Sunday in October, staying two nights, and the official listing price has been dropping for our days (was $240, now $220). However I saw a review on TripAdvisor from someone who used Hotwire for the Venetian but they were stuck in smoking room. Is this what's usually done with rooms put out for bidding? We'd really rather not have a smoking room since we're going to be surrounded by smoke any time we set foot outside of it.

Plenty of users have received non-smoking rooms at this property... but sometimes, no matter how you book, your preference just isn't available. Maybe that was the case in this situation, or maybe they just rubbed the check-in clerk the wrong way.Lots of possible scenarios, which may or may not be attributed to the way the user booked, but when things don't go as you want, it's easy to attribute it to the opaque providers.Let us know the actual dates of your stay and we'll advise as to a bidding strategy and the best way to go about booking. We originally were going to stay at Paris, which is $160 for our nights, but when I saw the price drop at Venetian I thought we might be able to get it for the same price as Paris via Priceline.Tried $120 last night and it was rejected. I'm fine waiting the three-day period to re-bid since the trip is still a good ways off.Thanks again for any help you can offer!
