Priceline Hotel: San Diego area help please

We're going to San Diego for 3 days in August. We'd like to stay

in the Del Mar - Rancho Santa Fe (area 2) or San Diego Coastal (area 16).

We would like to stay in the highest rated hotel for the lowest possible cost.

I already have lodging reservations with the Navy, but maybe you can help me

find a better deal in a fancier hotel. How should I bid this???

Also, what hotels are in Area 12, North County Coastal. Priceline seems to have

redrawn their area maps and I only see Encinitas and Cardiff by the Sea in their

'North County Coastal' area now. But I don't know what hotels are included in that area.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

We're going to San Diego for 3 days in August.

What are the actual dates of your stay?

We would like to stay in the highest rated hotel for the lowest possible cost.

What is your maximum bid per nite for this trip?

Also, what hotels are in Area 12, North County Coastal. Priceline seems to have

redrawn their area maps and I only see Encinitas and Cardiff by the Sea in their

'North County Coastal' area now.

What changes were made to this zone? (so we can research and update the Priceline Hotel List for this area as needed... are there specific hotels that you are aware of that are miscategorized?). If you go to MAPS and HOTELS.com and search for within 3 miles of this address '85 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA' you'll see most hotels in the zone (but this shouldn't be included an exhaustive list nor will the star ratings necessarily be the same as those at PRICELINE)

Hi Rickster. I would recommend that you bid on a 4-star (or higher) hotel in area 16 (San Diego Coastal), because you will have a wider selection of hotels and a good chance of getting something nice. You will probably end up in either the La Jolla area or in a hotel near Mission Bay -- both great vacation spots. I would NOT recommend you bid on less than 4-stars, because there are plenty of fleabag places that might fall into that category, and I'm sure your Navy discount would be a better way to go for a three-star hotel. I would suggest you bid around $99 or so. Good luck! (P.S. The North County Coastal area has mostly economy hotels in the 2-star, maybe 3-star range.)
