vb86 Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Hi!We're looking at 2 hotels in NYC from 8/9 - 8/14. We're looking to book 1 room for 2 adults. The details are as follows:4* Midtown East area hotelOffer Price: $176Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access90% Hotwire users recommendAnd4* Downtown - SoHo - Financial District area hotelOffer Price: $175Amenities: Fitness Center, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower95% Hotwire users recommend4/5 on tripadvisorMy best guess for #2 is Sheraton Tribeca. But I have no clue about #1. What do you think? Also, which of the two would you recommend :D ?Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! The amenities for the MTE property are very common for a 4* city hotel so it could be just about anything, but my best best guess is the New York Marriott East Side... for the Downtown hotel i'd guess the World Center Hotel or the Sheraton Tribeca.Although i'm not certain of the MTE property, that is the one i would take unless you have reason to be downtown... it would be a better and more central location for the average visitor (and although not very reliable, the 90% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests and the breakdown of user ratings gives a bit of comfort that it's at least a decent property)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. vb86 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 Thanks a lot for your reply. I will be making the booking on Hotwire in the next 24hrs. Once I get the confirmation, I'll come back and give the details.

vb86 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 Ok. So we went with option one and we got W New York. I just want to point out that "spa services" was not mentioned in the amenities. It seems like "spa services" is usually what gives away the fact that the property might be W New York. In our case, it wasn't mentioned.
thereuare Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Although not the hotel you were expecting, hope you're pleased with the results and this property should work well for your needs. Some rooms at this hotel can be small but sometimes you can get an upgrade just for asking (sometimes not)... i would ask at check-in "I know room sizes at the hotel can differ and since i'm here for more just a couple of days i'm hoping for something on the larger side. I'm sure you know the property well, so anything you can do in terms of a nice, and larger, room would be greatly appreciated".You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. vb86 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 Thank you for the restaurant recommendation, and yes, requesting for an upgrade is definitely on my mind. Lastly, I would just like to point out that the rate I got today at the time of booking was $177.
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Thank you for the follow-up. Enjoy your stay.
