fattycrab Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I have been pluggin in three weeks into the Hotwire thingy on your site. I know that threeweeks on Priceline is way too much. Is this true for Hotwire too?
AaronJB Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Please provide a follow-up for your Rome Hotwire thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread.)Additionally, please provide the date/s of travel for this Dallas stay.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
fattycrab Posted July 16, 2012 Author Report Posted July 16, 2012 I am looking for three weeks and frankly, when I have tried thisin an European city, it has not worked on Priceline. My dates are10/20/2012- 11/12/2012. It is about three weeks. I was thinking after looking at the Hotwire rates that I should try Priceline dowtown first as that is where the office is and I would prefer to not drive. What do you think about using Hotwire for such a long period of time?
thereuare Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 While longer stays can be more difficult since one hotel needs to have posted discounted inventory for every day of your stay (even just one sold-out where they don't offer opaque inventory means that the hotel is not eligible to accept your bid), it's not unheard of. HOTWIRE may be a little better for longer stays as they tend to do a better job of averaging rates when there are multiple price changes over the course of a stay, but you should consult and try both as either may ultimately be the best option for this trip. What is your desired star rating and budget per nite for this extended stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fattycrab Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 Thank you so much for your reply. Yeah, I learned in Europe that if using Priceline for long stretches, it was better to break it up because of those few, high-rate evenings that would make the whole bidfall apart. I am going to work in the Arts District and frankly, am hoping to find some hotel near publictransportation. Please stop laughing... By staying in the downtown area, I am more likely to be able to get to work even if it means walking. I also am trying to ascertain if the Galleria area has transport into downtown. Fifty bucks a night is pretty much my limit and I am happy even with a three star. Thank you for anything you can come up with. If you think of an area that has access to the downtown- pleaselet me know.
thereuare Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 I'm not local to the Dallas area so i'm not familiar with the mass transit options in the area... is 'Downtown' the only zone that is acceptable for this stay? Did you want to try bidding the complete stay for up to $50 first, then if rejected start to look to break it up into smaller segments? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
