Priceline Hotel: Hotel in Ottawa West

I'm fairly new to this and just want to make sure the locations listed on the area map on Priceline are accurate... my concern is that we want to stay in a 3* or better in Ottawa west. From what I can see, this should be the Kanata area, and there are only two hotels that qualify (Brookstreet and Holiday Inn). Either hotel would be fine.

My concern is when I check the results on this site, the only 3* that is listed as being in Ottawa West is the Holidan Inn Plaza in Gatineau, which is miles away from Kanata, and according to the priceline maps should be listed in area 2 (Hull).

I certainly don't want to end up in Gatineau, it is much too far from our ultimate destination. So how accurate are the Priceline area maps, and do the results on this site likely mean the areas changed? Or are the areas not accurate and I'll have to be very careful about choosing Ottawa West and expecting Kanata???

The zone boundaries on PRICELINE's site is are the 'rule of the land'... the hotel you receive could be anywhere within the shaded boundary of the zone(s) you select. I'm not local enough to this area to determine if the two hotels above are the only two that would qualify at the 3* level, but do be aware that the star rating you select is the minimum you are willing to accept... PRICELINE can always upgrade you a higher rated hotel if a hotel of that star rating in the zone is available at your bid price (not applicable at the moment in this situation since currently 3* is the higher star rating offered in the Ottaw (West) zone)

The Holiday in in the West zone is the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Ottawa Kanata at 101 Kanata Ave... this property wasn't plotted on the map properly and the Gatineu Holiday Inn was being shown twice... see the priceline.map and you'll see it has been updated.

Thanks for the quick reply... that makes sense now.

One other quick question... we would ideally like the Brookstreet, which is a 4-star, but cheaper than the Holiday Inn 3-star on the regular PRICELINE site. It doesn't show as an option though when bidding. Is there a chance we could get this hotel, or are some hotels only available on the regular site?

The 'retail' and 'bidding' sides of PRICELINE each use a different universe of hotels, so you can't use the retail listings to determine what you will get when bidding. However, given that the Brookstreet is 4* rated, and the highest rated hotel offered when bidding the West zone is 3*, i'd suspect that this property doesn't participate in the 'name your own price' side of their service.
