Just need opinions. I stayed at the Times Square Millenium around the same time in October for business trip. Prices then were reasonable at 190 a night. Going back for a business trip and would love to stay in the same area. I'm looking for at least 3.5 and above. I would prefer to stay in the times square area but would be open to the Chelsea area since it's close to the convention center. What kind of ball park price am I realistically look at for that time period?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

At the 3.5* level, besides Times Square, are there other zones you're willing to accept?

Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower:

MTE - some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?

CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.).. is this acceptable?

In addition to the two above which you may or not be interested in based upon the conditions cited, you may want to look at MTW, MSG and/or Chelsea. At the moment i think you're likely looking at ~$225-$245.

Well I'm there for a trade show at the Javitz. We liked being in Times square but maybe even something inbetween Times Square and MSG perhaps. I'm still looking here and HOTWIRE but won't get really serious till about September. Any recommandations? hoping for a 3.5 with hopefully 2 beds.

If you need more than one bed, I would - especially in NYC - recommend HOTWIRE, where you can indicate more than 2 people and ensure more than one bed (can be 2 bed, 1 + rollaway or 1 + sofabed.) If you use PRICELINE in NYC, one bed (and quite possibly a room too small for a rollaway) is likely. This is a prime time in NYC, so I would recommend being persistent in looking for something.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Let us know once you're ready to commit and move forward with a non-refundable purchase.. it doesn't make much sense to search now since hotel inventory, and rates, may be very different once you're ready to commit from now then where it is today.

I broke down yesterday and went to priceline and did the standard bidding stategies.

I must have been on there for about 30 minutes trying to wheel and deal. The Times square, midtown east and west as well as MSG are could not be had for $225.00 at all.

I broke down and picked the Chelsea area and got did the work it up to max paying threshold of $230 which eventually it it hit.

I got the Holiday Inn on 6th avenue for $230 a night in Chelsea. Not exactly where I wanted to be but it's still close to the Javitz center for our conference and it's a short cab or long walk to Times square.

Any ideas for the nightlife in the Chelsea area?

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you got this stay settled... can you add a reply to this thread confirming the date(s) you ultimately decided upon?

I think this location should work fine for your plans... it's not that far west and is therefore still very centrally located with multiple subway lines in a 5 block radius of this property.

Chelsea is a 'hot' area right now with plenty of bars and clubs to choose from. Clubs really aren't my scene but if you head to the meat packing district there should be plenty for you to choose from, and from what hear the area in and surrounding Chelsea Market has some 'known' places.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.
