ovorosh Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Going to be in San Juan pre-cruise for two nights. Looking for a centrally located hotel. Hotwire has two options: one is 3.5* hotel, near beach, restaurant, pool, business, center, and laundry (self-service) - which i think might be the normandie, for $117; the other is 3* hotel, restaurant, pool, fitness center, high-speed internet, near tennis, business center, for $125 - not really sure what it is.Really wanted the sheraton old san jaun, but looks to either be sold out or way more expensive than we wanted to spend (>$250/night).Thanks for any help.
thereuare Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 3* matches the Holiday Inn so that would be our best guess. The 3.5* matches the Normandie in amenities, but was last reported as a 3* so if it is the Normandie it would indicate an upgrade from the last time reported (entirely possible since i've noticed some other rating changes in this area)San Juan is notorious for releasing 'opaque inventory' close to check-in, so i would probably suggest waiting a bit longer if you're not in love with either of the aobve. You can book the Courtyard Marriott for about the same amount as the above ($145, but no booking fee) just to make sure that you have 'something' while you continue to try the opaque services.Let us know your thoughts. ovorosh Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 Would wait, but only concern is that its thanksgiving weekend and that things will get more busy.....Thanks for your help!!
thereuare Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 I understand that, which is why i suggested booking the Courtyard for just a few dollars more... makes sure you have an affordable room and gives you the opportunity to continue with the opaque providers. ovorosh Posted September 15, 2005 Author Report Posted September 15, 2005 sheraton has a best price gaurantee, so booked sheraton old san jaun hotel for $175/per night (price found on Expedia). was only slightly more than courtyard....so will see, if anything comes up better on hotwire closer to the time, can always cancel the sheraton.thanks for your help.will post again if hotel changes prior to our trip.ov
