I am looking to get a hotel for 9/5/12 to 9/9/12 for my honeymoon.

Areas that I am interested in:

Midtown East, Times Square/Theatre District, Chelsea or SoHo/Tribeca.

All help is greatly appreciated.

My budget for a 4* hotel is $150. Any idea, what is the expected bid/price range for 5* hotels?

up to $150 is worth trying for a 4* in these areas, but based upon rates (and the Fall traditionally becomes more expensive) I think a 4* is likely going to take much as $170-200. The 5* level is going to take significantly higher - probably a good deal over $300.

My guess is that a 4* in these zones will require between $215-235, with Times Square quite possibly costing higher.

If I lower the star rating to 3.5 for the same areas... can you give me an estimate of what I might have to pay for 9-5-12 through 9-9-12?

I think you're looking at $250-$270 for a 4* hotel and perhaps $200-$225 for a 3.5*.

Note that when bidding 3.5* and under in the MTE some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... this would need to be acceptable if you bid MTE at the 3.5* (or less) level.
