Livia Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Hi,I am looking a hotel for September 27 - October 3. I want one of this locations: Times Square - Theatre District / Midtown West / Midtown East / Central Park South, 4-star rating (maybe 3 1/2). I want to know how much i need to bid! I think about spending less than $ 250 (including taxes, so... I really need help to know how much bid and earn a good hotel, next to (5-10 minutes) to subway, clean and safe - that's the important. Will not happen last minute deals? Fall is the peak season, as I read here ... for now, buy without bid is very expensive :/ especially for boutique hotels!)What's yours tips? Is better to wait, or do my bidding now? Thanks in advance. I look forward answer!
Marlon Banks Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Hi, I've been checking on prices for the same time period. I bid up to $220 on PRICELINE with no luck. I went ahead and booked the hotel Indigo in Chlesea for a backup for $265 a night. I would keep my eye on the prices from now until then and maybe book a backup in case the prices rise. Good luck
thereuare Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Livia,Is ESB also an acceptable zone? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? At the moment i think you're likely looking at ~$250-$275 room rate (before fees/taxes) for a 4* hotel.Let us know you thoughts and information above and we'll take it from there.Marlon Banks,If you'd like help with your own stay feel free to start a NEW TOPIC.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! Livia Posted July 12, 2012 Author Report Posted July 12, 2012 I prefer to stay in the regions already mentioned. Then, would be possible, with a $200 bid, a 3 1/2 star hotel?
thereuare Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower in NYC:MTE - some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.).. is this acceptable?Le tus know if these zones would be options or not and we'll then have a look at 3.5* rates for the zones that are acceptable. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Livia Posted July 13, 2012 Author Report Posted July 13, 2012 Yes, both possibilities are acceptable to me. Having security to the walk to the subway, it's okay. :)And if I include Upper East Side in search? To obtain a 4 star hotel in the desired price. Is it possible?
thereuare Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 When i asked about ESB above i wasn't implying that you would be unsuccessful in the zones that you had posted, only that ESB is a frequently bid zone at the 4* level and that including as many zones that are acceptable as possible would increase your chances of getting a good deal. While i think a 4* hotel at a $200 bid may be difficult, do you want to try the 4* level first OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Should we also include UES in the bidding OR only if you first fail with the previous zones you listed?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Livia Posted July 15, 2012 Author Report Posted July 15, 2012 I think in giving the first bid in the areas mentioned above and with 4 stars. If I fail, including UES (still 4 stars). Being unsuccessful again, include only TS, MTE, MTS and CPS (previous areas), with 3.5 *. Hoping to make it work :)
