thereuare Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Rates are date specific, so you won't necessarily be able to replicate the winning bid of others if rates for your dates are higher then when others have won for less. Using one 4* hotel in the zone i checked rates for your dates and they start at $270+ per nite... making your $85/nite bid only about a third of prevailing rates, not a very high probability bet. Even the lowest price hotel i could fine in the zone was $209+, still making your bid amount less then half. With the above noted, you may not be far off from a win... what is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. SmellyDog Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Thank you for your feedback. As it is our anniversary, I am happy to go up to $150 I guess. I just really want a great Hotel for that night. So, what do you recommend? Start again with 4*, $90 and only Newport Beach? Or start with $100?Thank you!
thereuare Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 When bidding 4* in the Newport Beach zone you have THIRTEEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I'd try as follows:Select 4* Newport Beach...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 You have THIRTEEN re-bid zones available when bidding 4* in this region.. is there a reason you're not using them all? Do you know how to properly identify your re-bid zones? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
