Kaneohe0850 Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 Hi all,I'm planning a trip to London September 17-27 and while looking at the various offers thru Priceline, I see that they are now offering something called Priceline Express---hotel name is revealed after the purchase is completed similar to Hotwire. Here's what I'm looking at: 10 nights in London at a 4* property, one person travelingPriceline Express offers a 4* in Notting Hill/Bayswater that has a restaurant and fitness center for $137/nightCan you help identify this hotel?CheersKaneohe
vanpoodle Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 I'm thinking it's not the Hilton Hyde Park only becasue, after having stayed there 3 times I am quite certain that they do not have a fitness centre. However, that being said, if you look at the calendar of wins for that time frame, I am betting you can do better with regular PL, or possibly by splitting it into 2 or 3 separate stays using PL express. I have found that very often in London the weekends are quite a bit cheaper and I have never paid more than $100 a night for Fri-Mon nights for stayes in Regents Park or Notting Hill.
Kaneohe0850 Posted July 7, 2012 Author Report Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks VanPoodle, will look at the calendar.Regarding splitting the stay into short time periods--for me, it's not worth the hassle of moving hotels (something I dread).AlohaKaneohe
vanpoodle Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 It's quite rare to get a good price using regular PL for bidding for such a long stretch, there's not as much chance that a hotel will offer up their inventory for so many consecutive nights. I love exploring London so I don't mind switching it up a bit when I'm there so I get to check out another area. I did once manage 7 consecutive nights at $88 a night in Bloomsbury about 2 years ago in early September, but thought that was flukey. So it can happen, but if you have no luck getting a cheap bid accepted do consider making the move. My husband agrees with you about not liking switching hotels, but sometimes the savings can be significant.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 4* in Notting Hill/Bayswater that has a restaurant and fitness center for $137/nightAs this is a new product for PRICELINE we have only seen a handful of reported purchases (none in London yet)... so with just these two amenities, common at most 4* hotels, i don't think we'll be able to add any insight into this one.Have you considered bidding for a 4* hotel in this zone... or are there 'known' hotels you're trying to avoid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help along the way. Kaneohe0850 Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks Thereuare, I was curious if you had any insight on this new Priceline product. I'll probably hold off a bit longer before commiting to a hotel--not sure if I'll do PRICELINE or HOTWIRE but will be sure to use the link from this site. Thanks.
