Cytherea
Hi all, Thanks in advance for the help! Here's what I'm looking at on Hotwire: 4* - East of Strip area hotel7/13-7/15, 2 people, $62/nightAmenities: CasinoSmoke free roomsFitness centerPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh Speed Internet AccessGolf nearbySpa servicesAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafFree parkingAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll-in showerI put in the address of the New York New York Hotel and Casino, which is 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, and it claims that this hotel is: (0.2 - 1.2 mi from search location)Anyone have any ideas? I've looked through the posts in the forum with the "east" strip designation and haven't found any four stars that are within this distance from the search location. As we want to stay close to our friends at NY NY, it is imperative that we make sure it is walking distance before booking. Thanks so much!~Cytherea Link to comment

thereuare
Best guess for this property would be the Westin Casuarina. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. BaldyAlec
Are you suggesting that the Westin Casuaina has been moved to the East of Strip category?? I thought Hotwire was always categorizing it in Strip South geography for some reason. BTW to the OP, any of the Strip South properties would be walking distance to NYNY. ...Your best bet in my opinion would be to look at the 4 star offering south strip. . . that often turns out to be Tropicana which is Kitty Corner to NYNY and connected by overhead walkways. ( of course, use this board to confirm the likely hotel.) . . but NYNY is Strip South so any other Strip South is pretty close to NYNY Link to comment
thereuare
The zone boundaries have recently changed and i believe this property is now located in the East of Strip zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Cytherea
Hi,So I posted looking at Hotwire, and decided that the hotel I found was too risky, so I'm switching to Priceline. I read the information on re-bidding (which is brilliant, by the way!) but before I do it, I want to make sure I do it right!I need to be in the Strip Vicinity South- area 9. 4* or 5* is fine. The dates are 7/13-7/15.So my first bid was in that area with $60 a night bid for a 5*, which was rejected (not surprisingly but figured it was worth a shot). So now I can add- area 1 (Boulder Strip- highest star level is 3), area 3 (Henderson- highest star level is 3), area 11 (NW Las Vegas- highest star level is 3.5), area 14 (Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway- highest star level is 3), area 15 (Summerlin- highest star level is 3.5), while slowly upping my bid amount each time.Is this correct? I read some things about resorts not being ranked by the star system and thus there is the potential to end up in a resort because it is considered higher than the star levels listed for that area. I think I read something about Summerlin? Is that a place to avoid? Are the others safe, or are there any others that I need to be sure not to add when rebidding? I didn't see the "resort" designation on any of the others except Summerlin, but... I'm a little bit nervous and need to be reassured. Oh, and if anybody has any ideas on what a good price point would be, I'm open to suggestions. We are definitely wanting to get something for under $100 a night though, and we are hoping to have a total of under $200 for both nights *including* taxes, resort fees, or any possible parking fees. If it hits $200 even that's fine, but we really can't spend anything over that total (like I said, including the charges that will occur at the hotel). Thanks so much for the help! Can't believe I didn't discover this site before now. And I used the links above to do my searches. =) ~Cytherea Link to comment
MrCravat
"Just a warning for those of you trying to name your own price for a hotel at Priceline-I looked for all of the areas that didn't have 4 star hotels in Vegas to help me make more bids. Summerlin came up as an area with no 4 star hotels, but when I added that area, I won a room at JW Marriott in Summerlin.I'm guessing there is no way out of it, and am a bit bummed because I was bidding to get on the strip. I looked again and it is still listing no 4* in Summerlin, so I am not sure what I did wrong, but wanted to warn others that this may not be the best method as they are apparently ok with having incorrect information on their site.""Although in the star rating hierarchy 'Resort' properties are in between 4* and 5* (so should be viewed as 4.5* properties), on PRICELINE's bidding page they list Resort at the bottom of the star ratings. If you look under 1* in the list you're viewing you'll see the Resort option listed (and when you click Summerlin you'll see that there are resort class properties in this zone... as you now know)".........................................................................................This was posted on July 4 and the Gentleman was under the impression he was OK bidding in an area where there were there were no 4*..The replies may help you achieve what you are looking for..Priceline Las VegasGood Luck Link to comment
thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use the 'other' service we'll move your thread to that section of the board once a hotel is won.I don't think your 'all-in' budget is realistic for a 4* or higher in this zone. Resort fees are uknown but figure $20/nite in case you get a hotel that charges them (most 4* hotels on the strip now do) and your all-in rate is down to $80, then deduct Las Vegas hotel tax (10%) and PRICELINE's booking fee ~$7... and you're at $58/nite.You'll likely need to have to compromise somewhere... either zone, budget or star rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.NOTE: when bidding 4* in Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones... Summerlin is NOT one of them. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Cytherea
Sorry about that; I'm so used to forums where they are very specific about things being put exactly where they belong and not just added to a current related thread that I didn't even think about it when I made the new one. Thanks for the suggestions re: budget. I'm going to have to discuss it with my husband and see what we can come up with. Thanks again for the confirmation regarding the re-bidding zones and I'll keep you updated on what we end up with (if anything). Link to comment

Cytherea
Hi again-Thanks for all your help, but we've decided not to book through hotwire or priceline. It was too risky location wise and we weren't getting any bids accepted (I've been trying for a few days). I'm sure I'll be back on the forum next time we're looking for a place to stay though! ~Cytherea Link to comment
