Requesting guidance to bid on New York center city area hotel 7/23-7/26.

Budget: $150/nt max

Areas: Mid town, soho, or somewhere is easy access transportation.

Accommodations: I need 2 rooms for the 3 nights for a total of 5 people(2 adults and 3 teenagers). Would prefer two beds but I’m okay with one for the right price.

1. Is it possible to find a room within my budget?

2. What is good max bid for at least a 3* hotel.

3. When is the best time to place my bid?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

1. Is it possible to find a room within my budget?

Possibily... it'll be close.

2. What is good max bid for at least a 3* hotel.

Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower:

MTE - some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?

CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.).. is this acceptable?

Should we include these zones in your bidding? Did you want to try for a higher rated hotel first (if still available for $150 or less) OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?

Exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept?

3. When is the best time to place my bid?

I would begin now, but for a further discussion on this subject see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

I was able to get a room at the millenium hilton in the financial district. A 4* hotel for the price of $145/nt. Over half off the listed price!

I called the hotel about the availability of 2 beds. I was told they have rooms available but unfortunately they are not able to modify a priceline reservation. I was directed to contact priceline directly to make the change.

Is this how I should make a request for 2 beds?

Congrats on your success. :)

Definitely a very nice win for this Hilton property. PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy - you can call PRICELINE and see what they say/if they can contact the hotel.

Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
