Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Chicago (North Michigan Ave - River North) Allerton Hotel Chicago

I've always had great success with naming my own price on PL for one room. This time I am trying to acquire three rooms and I believe this is causing the increase in cost (for obvious reasons). Is this a common occurrence and has there been a precedent set for the "mark-up" for bidding on multiple rooms. For example, where most winning bids on one room at 3.5*/4* would be $120, what is likely to win three rooms? Is this strictly a keep-bidding-til-you-win scenario?

I am shooting for a 3.5 or 4* in NMA River North which makes it more difficult.

Multiple rooms should not be a real issue unless the date/s in question are busier and rates are higher (and inventory is tighter) in general. What bids have you made so far (in terms of zone/star rating/last rejected price?)

Aaron JB:

I have been using the strategy below - 4* River North, 3 rooms, check in 7/26 check out 7/29:

Begin with River North Area @ ~$100-105

Add Midway Airport North @ ~$105-110

Add Franklin Park Area @ ~$100-115

Add Hyde Park @ $~115-120

Add Skokie-Niles-Evanston @ ~$120-125

Add Midway Airport Area @ ~$125-130

Add Lincoln Park @ ~$130-135

I have also dropped to a 3.5* with all other criteria the same and generally the same bid amounts with no luck. I don't get as many re-bids with 3.5* but I would be okay with a 3.5 hotel in River North.

I have posted my wins when I have gotten them. I don't PL very often (only 2-3 times I think in the past 4 years) but I make sure to use the link when I do. I try to do my (small) part and follow the rules since this site provides a valuable service when needed.

HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Allerton Crowne Plaza (3.5* on PRICELINE) or the Westin Michigan Ave (4* on PRICELINE) for $140/nite... would you be willing to increase your bid another $5 at the 4* and/or 3.5* levels?

I just booked the Allerton Hotel using the PRICELINE link for $140/night. I will post the win in the correct forum with details of the bidding. My initial bid was River North, $140, 4* only, and was rejected. Added 3.5* and kept it at $140 and got it. 7/26-7/29.

Congrats on your success.

Nice deal for this very well-located property; the hotel is on sale on Expedia for $217 and change for these dates.

Enjoy your stay.
