tuff Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Looking for the highest star hotel in the Bar and restaurant area of Chicago! sorry never been to Chicago im looking for july 17th and going to cub game that night also. thank you in advance.
AaronJB Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. If you are looking to be in/near areas with a good deal of bars/restaurants, you would be best staying downtown North of the river. In terms of HOTWIRE, that would be the Gold Coast area, Mag Mile North-Water Tower or Mag Mile-River North. River North and the Gold Coast are more dense with bars/restaurants - I particularly like River North. The Gold Coast is its own separate area, but River North is part of the larger Mag Mile-RN zone on HOTWIRE.What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tuff Posted July 5, 2012 Author Report Posted July 5, 2012 Im not worried about cost, i want a great location to the BARS and have a great time in Chicago. Thank you for all your tips already.
thereuare Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 If you enter 'Chicago, IL' and your dates in the search box on the top right of this page... zoom in on the 'North Michigan Ave - River North' zone on the map. Are you willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of this zone?If so, do you want to try for a 4* hotel up to a $165 maximum bid? (is this within your "no budget"?)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tuff Posted July 6, 2012 Author Report Posted July 6, 2012 that sounds good. i have never used priceline i have always used hotwire. is there nothing on the hotwire site that would be in the location im looking for?
AaronJB Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 There is a 3.5* in the Mag Mile North-Water Tower area for $144 (the price you see may vary) w/:3.5-star Hotel in Magnificent Mile North - Water TowerThis Hotel features the following amenities:Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower That listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess is a downgraded Crowne Plaza Avenue, which would be a bit of trek (but not that bad) to both the Gold Coast and River North.I'm also seeing a 3.5* in the River North-Mag Mile area w/Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet Access for $133. That's a possible match for the Amalfi, Doubletree or Club Quarters Wacker/Michigan - I'd say it's more likely one of the latter two.For $165, I'm seeing a 4* in the Mag Mile-River North area w/Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower That would be a possible match for the Felix, which is in a very nice area not far from River North, but gets mixed reviews. Finally, for $217 I'm seeing a 4.5 Mag Mile-River North w/Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Which would be a possible match for the Intercontinental, which wouldn't be a far walk from River N.Are you seeing the above listings when searching? Would any of these be of interest? The Public Hotel, which is a newer 4* boutique, is $220 regular rate on Expedia and that's right in the Gold Coast.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

AaronJB Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 This would be a possible match for the Allerton or Westin Michigan Ave, but the Allerton would be more likely.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

tuff Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 i got it using priceline and yes i did use PRICELINE through your site. is this a good hotel? close to bars?
AaronJB Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 I actually think you couldn't have done much better when it comes to being near restaurants/nightlife, as this property is right in the River North area. Very nice deal for this well-reviewed hotel as well, and the first time the hotel has been seen as a PRICELINE win - thank you for letting us know about this new PRICELINE property so that we can update the site's Priceline Hotel List.
